Measuring Distances

It’s time for another little Sketch tip. This one may be one that’s gone unnoticed for many, but I think it’s extremely useful. 

To see exactly how many pixels there are between two objects - or between an object and its artboard, select the shape, hold down the Option-key on the keyboard and hover your mouse over the second shape:

Voila. :-)

This is probably my favorite design app on the Mac these days. I’m constantly trying to incorporate it into my workflow. This another great tip I didn’t know about.

6 reasons why I dig Pathfinder.

I’m always looking out for apps that can boost my productivity on the Mac. Besides Alfred, my main workhorse is Cocoatechs Pathfinder. If there’s a feature you’re missing in the Finder, you’ll probably find it in Pathfinder. Here are six reasons why I dig this app.

  1. Copy screengrab to clipboard.

    I use this all the time, no five finger keyboard shortcut to remember just a simple click in the menubar.

  2. Tags & rating

    My computer life is a mess of files, tags and rating makes it less chaotic.

  3. Tabs

    Just like any web browser, could you live without it?

  4. Dual windows

    No more window switching.

  5. Bookmarks

    Again, could you live without them?

  6. Enhanced sidebar

    I like stuff that’s one click away.
